TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These Terms and Conditions (“Rules”) govern the Edgars Share & Win Competition (“Competition”). By entering the Competition, participants agree to be bound by these Rules.
This Competition is conducted in accordance with Section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”).
1. PROMOTER
1.1 The promoter of this Competition is Edcon Limited trading as Edgars (“Edgars” or “the Promoter”).
1.2 The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by any third-party platform used to facilitate entry.
2. COMPETITION PERIOD
2.1 The Competition commences on 1 March 2026.
2.2 The Competition has no predetermined closing date and will continue until terminated by the Promoter.
2.3 The Promoter reserves the right to suspend, amend, or terminate the Competition at any time upon reasonable notice published via official Competition communication channels.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1 The Competition is open to legal residents of the Republic of South Africa aged 18 years or older.
3.2 Participants must be in possession of a valid South African identity document, driver’s licence, or passport.
3.3 The following persons may not participate:
Employees, directors, agents and consultants of the Promoter;
Immediate family members of the above;
Employees and immediate family members of the Promoter’s advertising and promotional agencies, partners, and associated companies.
4. HOW TO ENTER
4.1 To enter the Competition, participants must:
4.1.1 Complete and submit the required short survey.
4.2 Upon successful completion of the survey, participants will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Competition draw.
4.3 Participants may earn one (1) additional entry by completing and submitting an Edgars Funeral Cover quote.
4.4 The funeral cover quote is for quotation purposes only, and there is no obligation to purchase any product to qualify for the additional entry.
4.5 No purchase or payment is required to enter or to obtain any entries into the Competition.
4.6 Incomplete survey submissions will not constitute a valid entry.
4.7 Each successfully completed funeral cover quote qualifies as one (1) additional entry into the monthly draw.
4.8 The Promoter reserves the right to limit excessive, fraudulent, or system-manipulated entries.
5. MONTHLY DRAW
5.1 Five (5) winners will be selected per calendar month.
5.2 Winners will be randomly selected from all valid entries received during that specific calendar month.
5.3 The draw will take place on the last Friday of each month.
5.4 If the last Friday falls on a public holiday, the draw will take place on the preceding business day.
5.5 The selection process will be fair, random, and auditable.
5.6 The Promoter’s decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
6. PRIZES
6.1 Each winner will receive one (1) Edgars voucher valued at R500.
6.2 A total of five (5) vouchers will be awarded each month.
6.3 The voucher:
Has no minimum spend requirement;
Is valid for three (3) years from date of issue;
Is not transferable;
Is not exchangeable for cash;
Is not refundable.
6.4 The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize with another of equal or greater value should circumstances beyond its control make this necessary.
7. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION
7.1 Winners will be contacted using the contact details provided during entry.
7.2 Winners may be announced via official Competition communication platforms.
7.3 Winners must respond within 48 hours of notification.
7.4 Failure to respond or provide required verification documentation within the stipulated timeframe may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
7.5 Winners may be required to provide:
Proof of identity;
Proof of residence;
Any additional information reasonably required for verification purposes.
8. DISQUALIFICATION
8.1 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who:
Provides false or misleading information;
Enters using fraudulent means or automated systems;
Acts in violation of these Rules;
Engages in conduct that may damage the reputation of the Promoter.
8.2 Disqualified participants will forfeit any prize entitlement.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
9.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its directors, employees, agents, partners, affiliates and service providers shall not be liable for:
Any loss or damage arising from participation in the Competition;
Technical failures, network issues, or system malfunctions;
Lost, delayed, or corrupted entries;
Any injury, loss, or damage arising from acceptance or use of a prize.
9.2 Participation in the Competition is at the participant’s own risk.
10. INDEMNITY
10.1 By entering the Competition, participants indemnify and hold harmless the Promoter and its affiliates against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from:
Participation in the Competition;
Acceptance, possession or use of the prize.
11. PERSONAL INFORMATION AND POPIA
11.1 The Promoter will collect and process personal information solely for purposes of administering this Competition and related communications.
11.2 Personal information will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).
11.3 Personal information will not be shared with third parties except:
Where necessary for the administration of the Competition;
Where required by law;
Where consent has been provided.
11.4 By entering the Competition, participants consent to the processing of their personal information for Competition-related purposes.
12. GENERAL
12.1 The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Rules at any time.
12.2 Any changes will be made available via official Competition communication channels.
12.3 If any provision of these Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
12.4 This Competition and these Rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
13. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
13.1 Any dispute arising from this Competition shall first be referred to the Promoter for resolution.
13.2 If unresolved, the dispute may be referred to arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa rules.
13.3 Nothing in this clause prevents a participant from approaching the National Consumer Commission where applicable.
